The PADI Open Water Scuba Diver course is one of the most enjoyable courses that PADI offers and Orca Scuba Diving Academy ensures you will have an amazing experience. With the PADI Open Water Diver course, we offer you the time you need to master the skills and achieve your diver certification. The minimum age for this course is 10, however those aged 10-15 will be awarded the PADI Junior Open Water certification instead. All students must also complete pre-requisite paperwork before commencing the course, which is provided by Orca Scuba Diving Academy

Outline of the PADI  Open Water Diver Course: 

Part 1A – Knowledge Development:

Learning the background knowledge for scuba diving through self-study, whether via a paper manual or eLearning, lets you move at your own speed and convenience. After finishing the Knowledge Development sections, you’ll take a multiple-choice exam to wrap up the theoretical part of scuba diving. No need to stress—our team will ensure you’re well-prepared for the exam, making it a smooth experience!

Part 1B – Confined Water Pool Sessions:

]You’ll work with one of our instructors (usually in a class of 2 students) to develop the practical skills to scuba dive safely. These include buoyancy and clearing your mask as well as a 200 metre swim (there’s no time limit) and 10 minutes of treading water. You work with your instructor until you’ve grasped all the skills needed to move into the Open Water phase of the course. But again, there is no need to worry if you feel you are not ready. We are more than happy to arrange further sessions in the pool to build your confidence, before progressing to the next stage.

Open Water Dives:

Get ready for the grand finale of your Open Water course! To earn your certification, you’ll venture to an in-land lake with your instructor, who will ensure your safety every step of the way. Dive into four thrilling open water dives over two action-packed days. This is your chance to take the skills you mastered in the pool and apply them in a real-world setting. Dive into adventure at one of our designated Open Water Dive sites and experience the underwater world like never before!

What’s included in your course: PADI Open Water eLearning including training, equipment hire and PADI Certification on completion.

What’s not included in your course: Travel to and from the pool and open water training locations entrance fees to the Open Water Dive sites
