I would like to start off by wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of Orca’s many staff members.
Although most students connect with their Instructors and sometimes Dive Masters, there is a big team behind the scenes that makes sure everything runs smoothly.
We have young Maddie who will spend most of Sunday filling cylinders and putting kit away.
We have Julie in the office twice a week making sure I get as much of the paper work done as possible, before it’s needed!
Katie, one of our Rescue Divers and soon to be Dive Master, always around to help load trailers and setting kit out on a Tuesday night.
As well as Katie helping, we also have our ever present Zoe. On a Tuesday evening you will find Zoe sorting out equipment, making sure everyone has got what they need with a smiling face and a distinctive voice, and at weekends at the Open Water dive sites doing Surface Cover and again looking after everyone.
Then we have a whole host of Dive Masters who are the main stays of the DSD Programme, which I think is the single most important course we run. The DSD Programme is where we all started and if this is not executed in a way that reassures the student and lets them enjoy themselves, we have then lost them. So again, Thank You to all of the Dive Masters for all of their hard work over the year.
Moving onto the Assistant Instructors. This is a level that is an important step on the way to becoming an Instructor. It gives them the opportunity to start teaching, as two of our AI’s are currently doing with the PADI Seal Team course at South Woodham Ferrers.
Last but not least, to the dedication of our Instructors who go out of their way to help and make sure that all students enjoy and complete the courses, putting in many extra hours above and beyond the minimum requirements.
Looking forward to a great New Year with all the staff.
Thank you. Gary
