Our Mission Statement:

We provide outstanding training through building relationships with anyone interested in acquiring skills and knowledge in relation to snorkelling or diving activities. We build long term relationships with our customers through focussing on continuing diver education and the provision of experience opportunities and striving to exceed expectations in our customer care. We facilitate diving through providing planned diving experiences and holidays as well as supporting diving activities in general and sponsoring a network of qualified diving buddies. We conduct all our activities with a responsible approach to the environment, the local community and the safety of divers and snorkellers. We support our customers by meeting requirements and exceeding expectations.

Orca Scuba Diving Academy - About Us

Orca Scuba Diving and Snorkelling Academy was formed by a group of Instructors, determined to provide the best value training together with a customer orientated diving centre. They had each been involved with diving at various establishments and had a strong reaction against poor customer service and courses being run where the only focus on the student was on their wallet.

In addition all the Instructors at Orca made a very conscious decision to select PADI as the training agency of choice. In our joint opinion this is because the training methodology and support material is quite simply streets ahead of anything else currently available. In addition PADI is the largest and most widely recognised of all Scuba Diving Associations and is recognised in every corner of the globe.

Each of the team at Orca brings something extra to the mix to ensure that provide a much better end result. There is a deliberate mixture of experience both in and outside of the diving world. You can read something about each of the Instructors in “Meet the Team”

We chose the name Orca for a number of reasons, including the fact that Orca’s are impressive creatures and amongst the most intelligent species in the sea. More specifically they are one of the only members of the dolphin family to live in family groups (pods) and this is consistent with our focus on teaching children and families. Orca Scuba Diving and Snorkelling Academy grew out of teaching children to snorkel and scuba dive. It is no surprise that we still focus on providing comprehensive training for children and our experience has shown that by training the basics early and correctly the youngsters develop into some of the most competent divers that we see.

While teaching children we are often teaching about the environment which pleases all of us because not only does this create respect it also creates understanding and greater interest in the underwater world. We have aligned ourselves with a number of conservation agencies including PADI Project AWARE.

As a result of teaching children we also found a demand to teach family groups. So if you are interested in learning as a family we are well place to teach you as a group because we also understand that a family that learns together dives together.

Orca also made a conscious decision to provide training for the disabled community having seen the positive impact that learning to dive has. This required specialist training and without doubt enhanced our abilities as instructors.

We do of course also welcome individuals though our own experiences indicate that the lone student will typically make friends very quickly within the diving fraternity.

Having operated for some time out of a single training pool Orca has opened it own diving centre with purpose built classrooms and a shop designed to provide for the needs of both divers and snorkellers.
