Specialty of the Month |
Each month during 2008 Orca is sponsoring the PADI Specialty of the Month incentive programme. Each month there is a different specialty that we will be focusing on, designed to improve your diving skills and knowledge. When you complete the appropriate specialty we will enter you into the PADI prize draw so not only will you get a valuable course you could also win prizes the pick of which is a holiday for two.
To make things even easier there is also a designated specialty of the year which we totally support as it is all about looking after the environment. On this page you will find details of the Specialty of the month programme and more on the current specialty.

Buoyancy is the most vital of skills for the diver and if you get it right you will not only benefit from the feeling of weightlessness in the water you will also potentially significantly reduce your air consumption. Plus you will scare the fish less, bump into less and if you want to take great underwater pictures this is your starting point.
Getting buoyancy right will increase the pleasure you get from diving so if you want that and to learn the secrets of looking graceful and calm get booked on this course.

Specialty of the Year |
| Actually there are three to choose all of which Orca fully supports because they relate to conservation and help you enjoy your diving even more. |
Fish Identification
|
| The very best way to increase your enjoyment of diving is to know what you are looking at and this course will give you a really easy way to start to appreciate fully all the different fish and life that you see. It will also make writing up your log books easier and more interesting. So if you want to know how to tell a Wrasse from a Surgeonfish or you want to know where to look to find your favorite creature this is a must do course! |
Coral Reef Conservation
|
| Coral reefs are the most marvelous environment for observing wildlife on the planet providing the most spectacular palette of colours in nature. Coral Reefs are vital to the environment and in many places to the local economy as well. As with many other things the biggest threat that coral faces is from mankind. This course will help you appreciate what coral actually is and what it does as well as helping you appreciate what you can do to make sure that it remains in good shape. |
| Project Aware |
| This is a must do for any diver in my opinion. The Project Aware Foundation is dedicated to conserving the aquatic environment through education, advocacy and action. This fantastic course provides a big slice of education and will make you much more aware of the problems and challenges facing our seas and the simple things you can do to play a part. |
